Plan ahead
You can create a positive corporate culture by making sure your employees have everything they need to feel confident with the open enrollment process. This toolkit provides resources to help you plan and make sure your employees are informed and engaged.
Successful open enrollment begins with early planning, ideally three months before the enrollment period starts. To get started, please review the materials available to you in this toolkit.
Communicate in the right way
Employees often feel they either receive too many or too few communications. To help make it as easy as possible to execute your communication strategy, we offer fully designed templates with customizable messaging in a variety of formats.
Choose the best options to reach your employees, from emails to PowerPoint templates to text messages. We also offer videos, digital signage,
and social media posts.
Send the right message at the right time
Timing is important in helping your employees feel engaged and receive information when they need it most.
Help your employees feel supported by providing information to them 1 to 2 weeks before open enrollment starts, and then again on the first day of the enrollment period and 2 to 3 days before
it ends.
A dedicated open enrollment team
Anthem has a team that specializes in open enrollment.
This team will collaborate with our account team to plan how to best support your in-person or virtual open enrollment events. They can also schedule an Anthem representative to attend the event and answer questions your employees may have before making their health plan selections.

Text messages
How to use: We’ve provided sample text messages you can send to your employees through your company’s preferred text messaging platform. Before sending, be sure to remove the brackets and customize each message to fit your needs.

How to use: Download and customize the emails by adding in your group’s details. Plan to send the first email to your employees on the first day of open enrollment. The second email should be sent 3 to
4 days before open enrollment ends.
